Don’t Be Turned Off by Imported Tile

When it comes to home and kitchen remodeling, Houston homeowners are often taught that it’s smart to “buy American,” meaning to buy only those products that were manufactured and produced in the USA. While it is true that American-made products are often of a higher quality than those manufactured outside of the US, this is not the case of all home remodeling products. In fact, if you’re in the market for ceramic tile to add style to your kitchen, you’ll likely be hard-pressed to find tile made in the United States.

The reason for that is because the vast majority of ceramic tile, including the ceramic tile used in kitchen remodeling in Houston projects, is made overseas. Italy, Germany, and Mexico are some of the top manufacturers of this tile, and much of the tile produced overseas is of very high quality. So, if you’re shopping for tile and you notice it wasn’t made in the states, don’t let that deter you. You can find some beautiful, quality tile that was manufactured in locations around the globe.

Get Ready to Remodel!

When it comes to kitchen remodeling, Houston residents are often very excited to get the process started. In all of that excitement, however, don’t forget to properly prepare your kitchen for the changes it’s about to undergo. Depending on the level of remodeling you’re having done, you may need to remove all items from your kitchen. Even if you don’t have to remove everything, it’s a good idea, since this will limit items getting broken by accident or being marred by debris. Before you start packing, however, pull out the items you’ll need during the remodeling process. If you can’t live without that morning cup of coffee, for example, unplug the coffee pot and find a place outside of the kitchen where you can store and use it temporarily.

Pack up those items that you can live without during the course of the remodel. For best results, use plastic containers for storage rather than cardboard boxes, which can be damaged by water and tend to be a bit on the flimsy side. Carefully label the boxes for easier unpacking after the remodel is done.
